It's Been Fun

It really has.

But the time has come to call 'er quits.

I've met a lot of great people through Fresh N' Tasty, but as with all things,
it has to come to an end.

To everyone whose blogs I adore, keep up the great work,
I'll still keep visiting!

XOXO!

Don't Act Like You Don't Know Me

I have an odd pet peeve. I hate it when I call someone and they answer the phone like they don't know who is calling. When someone calls me, I can see on the caller I.D. who it is and I answer appropriately - that's just how I am. For instance, if it's Darin, I answer something like, "Jesus, Mary, how the heck are you?" Or, if my mom calls, I say something like "Mommy Dearest, no more wire hangers" - you get the idea.

It just bugs me when people I call just answer in the generic "Hello?"

I know, I know -it's a stupid thing - like I said it's an odd gripe that I have.

On a somewhat related topic, remember when hands-free cell phones first came out?

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Dolly & Death

I'll be the first to admit that I have a very odd taste in music. I don't even understand it myself. Lately I've been on a Dolly Parton kick. Of course I've always been familiar with Dolly's music, but in the last couple of weeks I've discovered 2 songs that I didn't realize she sang. I'm probably the last one to realize this, but did you know she sings Imagine (the John Lennon song) and Shine (by Collective Soul)? I couldn't believe it. I've been playing those 2 songs over and over lately. She's got a rockin voice, baby.

On a totally unrelated note, this pic was on cnn.com tonight, talking about the Israel & Hezbollah thing. Is it wrong that I find this casket bearer incredibly hot?

Bad Boys

Miss me?

Ok, enough of that.

The Fox t.v. show COPS started filming in Boise yesterday. They will be following our police around for 8 weeks. This makes me laugh. It's not like this is some dangerous city like Phoenix or Dallas ;-)

I imagine they will have to do a lot of editing to make it look like this place is full of vagrants and trouble-makers. The roommate and I have considered committing a crime so we can make it big on national television but we decided against it in the end.

Oh, and was anyone with eyes and ears suprised about Lance Bass officially coming out?

I gotta admit though, he's done good in the boyfriend department...

Sigh...I need a bf.

Experiencing Pride Vicariously Through Others

I think I'm about the only fag in the country that didn't get to do something fabulous for Pride this year. Boo-hoo. It's been fun to see other blogger's pics from their Pride experiences, though. Makes me look forward to next year when I'll be better able to attend Pride celebrations, like San Fran!

My friend Bill went to Seattle's Pride last weekend and rumor has it, he had a wonderful time. He's very masculine...especially in this pic...

Random Pic

I was looking at all the pictures on my computer tonight and I found this one...

This scary thing belongs to my very first boyfriend. Back when we were living together, she was our roommate. I can't tell you how many nights she scared the hell outta me when I would get up to go potty and there she was - standing there in the hallway...waiting for me to come out of the bedroom so she could freak me out. Bitch.

It's Like A Different Language

Today at work I overheard two straight guys talking about some college football game this past weekend. I literally had no idea what they were talking about. It sounded like utter nonsense.

I was amazed at how excited they were getting just talking about it. I was sitting there at my desk looking at my computer but listening to them.

Straight men are so silly sometimes.

Now, if all football players looked like this, I might be convinced to start following the sport.

It Was Hi-Laaaarious

The people that sponsored our Pride events this year managed to get hold of the new Strangers With Candy movie before it's full release. Hey wait, isn't "full release" a massage term? Eh, well anyway, a bunch of us saw the movie on Wednesday night and I have to tell you it was fucking hysterical. If you are a fan you absolutely NEED to see this movie when it comes out. I really haven't laughed that much in a long time.

Sorry

A couple of weeks ago I posted about how I was pissed off at a co-worker that happens to be extremely overweight and was taken to the hospital due to some breathing problems. I received a couple of comments that I'd like to address. Now when I first read these comments, I got a little worked up. I tend to do that at times. But I re-read them and then re-read them again. I decided that both have some very valid points, however I do need to reply...

The first one was from 'Anonymous':

So she's fat. So you're skinny. What makes you think one is better than the other?

Your attitudes and beliefs about fat people seem just as biased and uninformed as those directed by right-wingers at LGBT people.

I hear you expressing contempt and hatred toward another person for being different from you.

Are you really proud of that?

I want to clear something up - I wasn't expressing hatred toward another person for being different than me. If that were the case I would hate everyone I ever came in contact with, because every human being is different. I most certainly wasn't picking on her simply because she is overweight. I have several family members and some friends that are considered overweight and I just wouldn't go there. I was expressing my unhappiness at her for not even TRYING to make positive changes in her life that would help her avoid another incident.

The second comment was from 'Edward Virtually':

How compassionate. I don't suppose you think gays deserve all the aids they experience, do you. It's really pathetic to see a member of a minority group that has been and continues to be victimized by ignorant bigots act like one themselves. And before you claim that morbid obesity is a lifestyle choice, I will say that it is no more so than homosexuality is, as any number of scientific studies in to the causes reflect. As someone who suffers from morbid obesity as a result of dysfunctional eating habits caused by child abuse at the hands of my mother and her lesbian lover, and struggles daily to avoid killing myself and try to get better, I reply FUCK YOU TOO, ASSHOLE. I'll remember your post the next time I am asked to feel sympathy for gays. And again, FUCK YOU.

To Edward Virtually - You're right - obesity is, for many people, not a lifestyle choice. I absolutely realize it isn't, for the same reasons as indicated earlier - I have family members and friends that have weight issues. It sounds like you have encountered some major obstacles in your life and I am sorry that you have had to go through that. I am, however, a little confused by your AIDS comment. It sounds like you think it is a gay disease, which it isn't. It would have been more effective for you to say something about gays and lesbians not deserving all the hatred and bigotry they experience from a lot of closed-minded straight people - George W being the king of that group. But, I digress.

I sincerely apologize to 'Anonymous' & 'Edward Virtually' - and anyone else I may have offended by that post. I truly didn't mean to come across as some cruel prick that was making fun of overweight people. The whole intent of that post was to point out that I was upset at the fact that even after being rushed to the hospital for problems directly related to her weight, she makes absolutely no effort to change things in her life that could help her - in fact, she does just the opposite - she starts smoking again. To add to that, whenever someone asked how she was doing, her reply would be in a very feel-sorry-for-me sort of way.

If it were me, I would take the trip to the hospital as a wake-up call and I would drastically change my habits. Sometimes, well ok, MOST of the time, I forget that not everyone thinks like me. Just because I see things a certain way, doesn't mean everyone else does, too. I also need to realize that certain things are easier said than done. Like any addiction, overeating can't just be turned off like a lightswitch.

Again, I didn't mean to offend anyone, but obviously I did, and again I apologize.

Keep The Change

Yesterday and today an odd thing has happened while I've been out eating. When I pay for the meal, the server brings back my change but there is only paper money and no coins. This has occured at two completely different restaurants and I can't figure out why it is suddenly happening when I've never even heard of this before.

Today I should have received $9.71 back but instead she gave me $10.00. This makes no sense - do they do this all the time? If so, they are losing money.

Does this happen to anyone else on a regular basis? Is it common practice at restaurants?
